Day 2

Today was very successful! We woke up at about 6:00. loaded the bus at 6:45, ate breakfast at 7:00, and departed at 7:30. Our first clinic spot was about an hour away from the Children's Home.It was amazing how many people with different stories came through.

There were plenty of jobs to go around. A few other kids and I were assisting the local youngins with coloring and crafts. The translators were interpreting for us, along with triage, labs, pharmaceuticals, etc. About 3/4 of the way through we had lunch. A couple hours later we were packing up. Despite it being the first day, clinic went very smoothly. We saw 162 patients total, medical care for everyone in line!

After a hard days work we got to visit a beautiful, quiet beach. A friend was nice enough to lend us their beach house to sit at and change in. In the 90 degree weather, the cold water was very refreshing. Some people boogie boarded, some dove under waves, and some simply sunbathed. A couple hours later a few of us went to a local mini-mart type store to get some snacks for the beach house. There were pigs and chickens running around just outside of it! A few minutes after we finished our food, it was time to leave. Overall, the beach was a very positive experience.

Right when we got to the Children's Home it was time for dinner. The food was delicious (as usual). There was rice, beef stew, and plantain chips. We retired to our dormitories shortly afterwards. Pastor Schul led an engaging devotional time before bed.

Grace Lutheran Nicaragua 2016 is going very well so far!

Adios,
